Supervising Producer

Full-time/ Contract to hire 

Supervising producers work closely to manage a team of show Producers. SP keeps track of schedules pre-production and post-production as needed for show/team, and manages communication between team members and other departments. You should be detail-oriented, deadline-driven, growth-minded, and comfortable being a key player on a team as well as a leader managing independent projects.

Supervising Producers collaborate with hosts and other vertical teams to achieve the highest standards for Whetstone assets and deliverables.

We’re looking for someone who’s comfortable listening to a ton of tape, working closely with show teams, and stitching everything together into beautiful, cohesive and thoughtful  shows. The job is hands-on, under the guidance of our Head of Podcasts. You’ll manage hosts, shape stories, prep and outsource research, and work with a team to create compelling, heart-centered podcasts.

• Minimum 5 years professional studio recording and post-production experience

• Exceptional organizational skills, ability to prioritize work,  track record of turning around audio on tight deadlines

• Experience editing and guiding others’ work with sensitivity and vision

• Ability to prioritize and delegate responsibilities

• Proven experience working well in team environments; managerial experience strongly preferred

• Ability to script and edit character-driven narrative, with an inclination to push boundaries and innovate

• Comfort coaching hosts through interviews

• Expert proficiency in audio mixing

• Expert proficiency with studio and field recording equipment and hardware

• Ability to work in Adobe Audition, as well as Apple OS and related software

• Knowledge of sound recording and ability to troubleshoot in studio and field environments

• Familiar with Whetstone’s work, aesthetic and distinctive voice

• Intuitive knowledge of “what works” in audio storytelling
