Social Media Coordinator

$25 per hour (+ DOE) / part-time (10-15 hours per week) / remote / one position

At Whetstone, we are looking for a part-time social media coordinator who enjoys exploring and sharing stories about food, food origins and culture. Our ideal candidate has strong writing skills, including the ability to write succinctly. They should have an understanding of storytelling trends across social media platforms, and be able to adapt both copy and visuals accordingly.

Expectations

• Work with Social Media Manager to plan posts across Whetstone’s verticals (Magazine, Journal, South Asia, Radio, Oaxaca & Whetstone Collections)

• Create social media graphics for Instagram and Instagram Stories in conjunction with Graphic Designer/Art Director for design templates and Photo Director for images

• Write social media copy for Instagram and Twitter

• Organize database of social media assets

Skills and Qualifications

• Interest in storytelling using both text and visual media

• Strong writing skills and ability to distill dense information into key points

• Understanding of storytelling trends across social media platforms, especially Instagram and Twitter

• Experience with Canva preferred

• Strong collaborative skills
